Firing cost is 50% of the retail greenware price.  For example, a piece of greenware that has a retail cost of $3.00 would cost $1.50 to fire it.  The cost of firing would be the same for glazes, lusters, and decals.

Most greenware firings (CONE 04) are ready within 5 – 7 business days.  The number of days depends on the quantity that needs to be fired, other orders ahead of yours, and the weather conditions.  Glaze firings (CONE 06) are usually ready within 14 – 21 days.  Luster and decal firings are only done a few times a year.  Please contact us for the next available dates.

Yes, we do fire greenware purchased from other businesses and/or poured (Slip casted) by individuals.  All you have to do is bring in the item(s) to be fired.  We will let you know how much it will cost.

Payment is required, when the item is dropped off.

All pieces must have your name/initials or some sort of marking on the bottom.  For example, you can carve your name/initials in the greenware and/or you can paint your name/initials with an underglaze product.  If painting your initials, make sure it can be fired!  Please be aware that pencil and permanent markers burn off in the firing process!  We require this so each customer can rest assure that they have the correct item.  Also, it helps us to distinguish the difference between duplicate items in the same kiln load.

When dropping your piece(s) off, please let us know what needs to be done.  Whether it is a greenware, glaze, luster, or a decal firing.

FOR YOUR SAFETY AND OURS PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE DIRECTIONS TO THE PRODUCTS YOU ARE USING!  GREENWARE IS CLAY(UNFIRED).  CONE 03-04 IS BISQUE (FIRED GREENWARE, WHITISH IN COLOR).  CONE 05-06 IS THE TEMPERATURE USED FOR LOW FIRE GLAZES.

IF APPLYING GLAZES TO GREENWARE, REMEMBER TO LEAVE A PORTION UNGLAZED FOR THE GASES TO ESCAPE DURING THE FIRING PROCESS!  TESTING FOR COLOR CHANGE IS ALSO RECOMMENDED.  WE SUGGEST FIRING ALL GREENWARE PIECES THAT ARE GOING TO BE GLAZED FIRST TO CONE 03-04.  THEN, APPLY GLAZE AND FIRE TO CONE 05-06 RESULTING IN A TOTAL OF TWO FIRINGS.  DECALS/LUSTERS REQUIRE A TOTAL OF THREE FIRINGS.
